Love Letters Month 4

I have been so behind on my blocks. The last block of the Love Letters Block Of the Month was sent out in April, and I'm only through month 4. I tried to get caught up last month, but I was only able to finish month 4 before helping my friend out with all her quilts.

Here is Love Letters Block 4

2 more months to go. Maybe I'll be done next month....

Love Letters Month 3

Oh Boy! I sure fell behind in my Love Letters blocks. Month 5 will be sent out in just a few days, and I hadn't even done month 3 yet! Well, I decided that needed to change, and set aside some time to do some catching up. I had actually hoped to have month 4 finished as well, but month 3 took much longer than I would have liked. It took me an entire afternoon/evening to cut and sew about half. That included making dinner, bath time, a quick rescue and bedtime.
When I got up to press some seams, Paisley quickly took my spot at the machine. She is always trying to push the buttons on the screen and make the "baby" appear. It's a little sad face that comes up when you try to do something it won't allow, like start with the presser foot up. I didn't see her take my place, since she had been running around the house with her brother. I hadn't even started to press when she started to scream. I turned to see her little hand caught under the needle. I have no idea how she managed this. The needle had pierced her index finger on her right hand from top to bottom, and was resting in the feed dogs. I checked her finger as soon I got it free. She didn't even bleed! I was amazed. Now her finger just looks a little red, and she doesn't seem to notice the sore. With all the excitement surrounding these blocks, I just finished them tonight. I think I will put month 4 on a little bit of a hold, for now.

Love Letters Month 2

I found some time a few days ago to sew my Love Letters Month 2 blocks together. I got the basic block done before I had to call it quits for the day. Yesterday I decided to take a break from all the noise, Noise, NOISE at my parent's house and finish the blocks by sewing on the border.

Just a couple more weeks and it will be time for month 3!

Love Letters Month 1

The Love Letters Block Of the Month started this week (There are still a couple spots left for late entry). After a few short hours yesterday, I completed both (identical) blocks for this month. I am in love with the Etchings collection by 3 sisters. The colors and prints with this line sure make this block look quite elegant, as I'm sure the rest of the quilt will be, too. The blocks are quite large, measuring 17.5" square.

so, I have this friend that lives in my neighborhood. She's been saying for a while now that she wants to make a quilt. Her first quilt. Her first time sewing. She saw the Love Letters and loved it. Some time later, she saw it again and didn't like it. She brought a friend over the day to look at some fabric and patterns. The friend saw the BOM and showed it to my friend, who again said she loved it, but not all the gray. While looking thru all the fabric on my shelves, she found all the fabric for the Love Letters and once again, declared her love. She did this not only with the Etchings, but with many other lines, like Butterscotch & Rose,  Ruby and Sugar and Spice. She kept saying she didn't like the aqua in these lines but then would try to use it as her main color. Every time she pulled something she had just a minute or two before said she did not like, then absolutely loved, I would remind her it was the same thing she just looked at. It was almost like watching a kid in a toy store being excited about everything they see and not really looking at the same time. It was a fun afternoon of flip flopping. And to think, she thought it would only take 10 or 15 minutes. I'm excited to be helping her and her friend with their first quilts!

Love Letters Block Of The Month

I joined my first Block Of the Month (BOM) at the beginning of the year. I have really enjoyed it. It's been quite nice putting one block together each month. I don't feel as though I am putting this quilt aside, like a few of my others. Instead, I feel great accomplishment when I finish my month's block. As though I am working on one small project every few weeks.
I would like to be able to do a Block Of the Month (BOM) thru my shop. I found a really great pattern (by This & That) in a beautiful line (by 3 Sisters) available later this year; both available thru Moda. Before I submit my order for the BOM, I want to see if there is enough interest for it. So, I am wondering, do you want to join me in this BOM?
Love Letters by This & That
Fabrics will be from the 'Etchings' collection by 3 Sisters
The BOM would run for 6 months with 2 identical blocks each month. Finished quilt size is 65"x83"
The cost per quilt will be $22 per month, which includes pattern, fabrics and shipping for each month and finishing kit (sashing, borders and binding). I will have backing avaiable for $42.50 plus shipping. Step-by-step tutorial of each block will also be included via email pdf, upon request
(Compare to the Fat Quarter Shop at $34.99/month plus shipping and $53.95/backing plus shipping for same BOM)
Let me know your thoughts, please.
