Store Closing

It's been a long time since I've posted anything here. I've had some major changes in my life and as a result, have to close my little shop. It breaks my heart that it has come to this. I have enjoyed my little business and all of my customers. I want to THANK YOU ALL for all your support over the years. I will truly miss you.
I will be discounting inventory over the next few weeks, in order to close out the store. I have also found some older bundles that were misplaced and doing my best to get everything listed in the store. I don't know how long it will take to sell everything, so PLEASE, tell your family, friends, co-workers, quilting group, anyone, everyone!

Again, Thank you to everyone that has purchased from store, and for especially for my loyal customers. You have all been so kind. I have enjoyed seeing your projects. I have loved getting emails asking if I really still have a certain bundle because you have been searching everywhere and haven't been able to find it. Let It Snow!

It has snowed quite a bit here. The kids have been busily building snowmen, helping me to shovel the walks and cuddling under big blankets with mugs of cocoa topped with whipped cream. Admittedly, I may be doing the latter more than they.

Craft Book Month - Blog Hop

Good Morning! and welcome to the 3rd annual Craft Book Month blog hop. This is my second year on the blog hop, and I am excited to be back! When Lindsay asked if I would like to participate again, I knew exactly what book I wanted to showcase: Growing Up Modern by Allison Harris of Cluck Cluck Sew. I have been a long time admirer of Allison's. So many of her patterns make my never ending to-do list. Earlier this year I used her Scout pattern to make a quilt for my Grandpa. You can read about that here.

Growing Up Modern. This is such a wonderful book for anyone sewing for a child. The introduction offers great direction in making the quilt top, finishing the quilt and even some tips on how to use up your scraps!

Though this book is geared toward children's quilts, most quilts include sizes crib-twin, and could easily be adapted for a larger size, if needed. While looking through this book, I had a hard time deciding which quilt to make for the blog hop. In the end, I went with the first quilt that caught my eye. Tumble.

 

Once I decided which quilt I would be making, I had the perfect bundle in mind. And lucky for me, it was just the right amount of fat quarters. I wanted to make this a quilt that any child could use, and combining my love of gingham, went with the 1/8" rainbow gingham fat quarter bundle from Riley Blake Designs.

I made the crib size, measuring 49"x50". This quilt went together so quickly! I had all pieces cut in just a couple of hours, and with strip-sewing, had the top sewn in about as much time.

I started quilting on it the next day. But .. had a few thread problems, that resulted in having to check my machine in for repairs. Not knowing when my machine would actually be fixed, I wondered if I would get the quilting done before my day on the blog hop. Luckily I got my machine back on Friday and was able to finish up the quilt by Monday night. Whew! That was a close call :)

I went with a simple geometric design connecting the corners of the inner and outer squares, then rounding out the middle from corner to corner. A little bit of dense quilting in the sashing and this quilt is complete!

I am loving the way it turned out.
