Lizards

I made this blanket for a shower I went to a month or so ago, for a baby boy. After I trimmed the lizard print down to size, there were quite a few lizards still intact. So, I thought "I'll cut out these lizards and applique them onto the front. It won't take that long".

After spending about an hour cutting out all the good lizards, not only was my hand a little sore (I used my embroidery scissors to get around all the little fingers), I thought  "Well at least it won't take so long to applique them. That will go really quickly".

I think I ended up with 8 good lizards. Thinking I might even applique a couple to a burp cloth or bib, I arranged 6 on the front corner of the blanket.

I'm not exactly sure how long it took to applique them, but it was somewhere around 20-30 for each one.
I had to go at the lowest speed, since these little guys are so tiny, and those fingers! I almost wanted to give up! I went around each lizard 3 times, for a scrappy kind of look, and also to ensure that the legs and tails would not come undone.

It may have taken longer than I thought it would, but really - - it was SOOO worth it!

I absolutely love how it turned out! I almost didn't want to give this one away!
And ... I still haven't got around to that burp cloth/bib :)

Baby {S}

I'm pretty sure that 90% of the women I know are expecting; And all with in weeks of each other! That just means I get to spend some time making cute little onsies and blankets for them all!

My cousin is no exception to that number. She is expecting her first baby. A little girl! I attended her baby shower over the weekend.

One thing my cousin loves is animal prints, especially leopard. So, I had to make a cute little pair of leopard print shoes!

She is also decorating the nursery in pink and gold. These monogram onsies are my new favorite thing to make.

I found some pink zebra flannel (squeel!) and matched it up with pink dot minky for the self-binding blanket,
along with a couple of burp cloths out of the leftovers. Yep. I'm loving how it all turned out :)

Monograms

The other day I whipped a quick self-binding receiving blanket for a dear friend of mine. This being her second baby, I wanted to do something special for both of her girls.

SO....

I customized some matching T's;
monogrammed to their names, in parenthesis.

Here's the whole lot.
Complete with matching socks :)

Sewing

Now that the weather is getting warmer, there's been a lot more play outside. Which means, I haven't been able to sit at my sewing machine for a couple of weeks.

But yesterday, while the kids were at the park with Dad, I was able to spend a little time sewing up a new little blanket for one of my best friends, who at the time, was in labor with her second child.

I may have procrastinated a little on this one, but I still finished in time :)
I also plan on making some customized onsies; but turns out, I can't find that the onsies I thought I had. As soon as I get some new ones, I'll post pictures of the finished product!

Hope you have a great day!
