Back To Basics

These past few weeks have been a whirlwind! My oldest started Kindergarten, and my other is in preschool at the same time. With a few hours to my self during the week, I thought I'd be able to get quite a bit of work done. Instead, I find it even harder to be able to sit down at the computer. The excitement of going to the store by myself has kept me occupied, and yet I still have no idea what to make for dinner :)
Along with trying to balance 2 new school schedules, homework, work and play - my kids came up with an unexpected 'to-do' on their list this past weekend. Last Thursday, just a few minutes before having to leave for school, my little girl spotted the biggest black widow I think I have ever seen, casually crossing our living room floor. Of course, the kids wanted to keep it! I bottled it up for the time being while I did a little research on how to preserve them, and on Saturday we pinned it up for display. My house just got a little more creepy and little more ready for Halloween ;) My little guy has been asking if we can hang it up next to his bed. Ummm... Although I'm not quite sure where it's going to go yet, I wouldn't want to wake up next to this every morning!

I recently added about 60 bolts of basics from Michael Miller:

Dumb Dot

Mini Chic Chevron

Ta Dot

Petite Point

and (Practically) all of the Cotton + Steel basics.
(6 bolts are on back order)

Dottie

XOXO

Netorious

I also picked up the new box set of Riley Blake Basics Aurifil collection. This collection features 12 colors that match perfectly with Riley Blake core basics of solids and shades.

  1. You are the greatest mother in the world. That spider would have been smashed beyond recognition around here. By the way, only black widows get killed. All others are usually rescued and tossed outdoors. Thank goodness I rarely see any spiders indoors and usually those are just daring (or jumping) spiders.

  2. One of those creepy things laid her egg sack in our sandbox! We killed it and the eggs and my daughter got very upset. It would have been horrible if one of the little ones had gotten bit! I don't normally kill spiders, but black widows and brown recluse are considered enemy combatants in my house.

However, if you are a no-reply blogger, I will not be able to respond.
Thanks, and have a great day!
