Quilted History

A few months ago I decided that we need to have an official 4th of July quilt. One big enough to fit the whole family, with room to spare. I had it cut and sewn within a week. I used mostly from my stash. I didn't have enough red and hardly any white, so I had to buy a little. I really hoped to have it finished before the holiday this year. I hate to say that it is still sitting, mostly waiting to be quilted. I couldn't decide what I want in the quilting; But I think I've finally figured it out  and have about 1/3 drawn. I can't say I have it completely figured out because I ended up erasing a good portion of it the other night. Not an easy task.
I hope to have it finished by the end of the month. My favorite part of this quilt is that the majority of the fabrics I used not only came from my stash, but most of those are between 10 and 30 years old. I got a lot
of scraps from my mom recently. She is an excellent seamstress and always made us kids clothes growing up. She also saved the remnants from many of those fabrics, especially from dresses that she made me, to make me a quilt with the same fabrics. I love that idea. My mom is not a quilter and never finished the quilt. She had a few blocks made, but I think my dad (being the grinch that he is :) ) had her get rid o
f what she was not using a few years ago.

I am glad that I was able to incorporate fabrics from my personal history
to be able to share with my family while we celebrate our national history.
It makes this quilt that much more special.

I hope y'all have a wonderful 4th of July holiday.
