Here Fishy, Fishy...

So, We took the kids fishing. Argyle was so exciting, he just kept saying "I going fishing! I going fishing!"
We went to a lake that was supposedly a hot spot. It was full of boats. Big boats, little boats, inflateable rafts and kayaks. We quickly learned it was not a good location for shore fishing. At least not yesterday. There was a lot of activity going on. We thought we had found a nice little, less traveled spot. It was an indent, borderline cove-ish. We were wrong. Some boaters came along and decided that they could use it as a dock and pick up their friends. They quickly pushed us down from where we had set up. 3 boats later, they were crossing our lines.

We didn't let their rudeness spoil our good time. There were lots of rocks around for the kids to climb on, little ones to throw. tons of drift wood to stick in the wet sand, and just perfect for two tikes to wade. But when the boats starting getting closer and closer, we had to move.

still no fish

We didn't stay long after having to move. Paisley let us know how tired she was. Plus we needed a little lunch. We decided to try again in the evening. After naps we went back, hoping this time would be better. We went to the same lake because we had to pay to get in (state park) and wanted to get the most of our day pass . Already things were calmer. Most the boats had left and looked like only campers were out.
During our break, I forgot to take the worms out of the car, and they had unfortunately turned to soup. I bought some power bait from the general store. we fished for another 1 1/2 hours with no luck. Determined to get a fish, we headed to the dock hoping for a carp or catfish. On the first cast, I got a bite. While reeling it in, the fish jumped, and got away. :( We got another little nibble and that was all.
Not a good fishing day for us.

The kids were happy.
It was a great day.

I can't wait to go again. Hopefully it will be better and we can get a fish!

Did you do anything fun this weekend?

P.S. Check out my sexy new tan line!

  1. We went to a lake polluted by people and only caught one fish, so we left and went to another place with only a few people. We then caught 30 fish! it was pretty awesome! :) The waves on the lake we so huge though. We fed about 10 fish to the eagles and they came up right beside the boat! It was incredible. Those things re massive up close.

Sounds like you guys had a good time. Sorry you had no luck. There's always next time :)
