not so lone star

I started a new quilt this week.
My grandma (in-law) wants me to make her a quilt for her new condo.
For the fabric, she picked Daydream by Cyndi Walker.
For the pattern, she asked me to design it.

After spending 2 days trying to find my ruler that my little Paisley had run off with, (I have a very small house. you'd think there wouldn't be many places to hide things.) I finally found it under between the couch and a pile of cuddly. I don't know how many times I took everything out in that same place and could not see it.
UGH!

Last night after the kiddos were asleep, I was able to sew this star as the center piece.

This is the first time I have done a lonestar. I sewed the strips together, then cut the diamonds. It went together very fast. It is just a mini, but I would imagine a much larger lonestar would go together quickly as well. I have always wanted to make a lonestar quilt, so this was a perfect start.

I'll have more pictures as I go along. Hopefully I will be able to get some good sewing time in
and get this quilt done!
